Made with SDL in Visual C++ Studio 2010.

3 things

1: do those plant looking things hurt you if you touch them?

2: the gun sounds like a normal gun, and the projectile looks like a bullet, why?

3: i love the way the corpses of things you kill are left behind


do show more, when you can

There are actually two guns, one is a normal automatic gun (the one I use to kill the flying things in the video), the other an energy weapon (in the vid the standard short-ranged plasma-blaster-thingy samus has in the beginning of Metroid 1).

The gun does more damage, has higher ROF and the projectiles travel much faster than the standard energy weapon (though that can change with upgrades and other weapons you collect), but has finite ammo and the smg you have in the beginning cannot destroy the plants or sand tiles. The energy weapon has unlimited ammunition, but can overheat if you fire it too often in a short span of time. You can't fire while it cools down, leaving you defenseless if you have no ammo for your gun. You will be able to install additional magazines and heatsinks, which work pretty much like the energy tank, but for ammo or heat.

Yeah, I figured when I give Samus a machinegun it'll look silly if the enemies just explode (Which they still do if you hit them with a rocket, and it looks messy :silly: ).

Looks amazing! Hope you finish it cause will be very interesting to play! I personally quite like the sound of having a gun with ammunition which is fast and then a slow moving backup beam weapon, adds variety other than spamming charged beam shots like in every other metroid game. Keep up the good work! :biggrin:
